Dr. Prof. (Col) Pankaj Talwar, VSM, MD, PhD is an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, and was formerly Director and Head of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and IVF Services at Army Hospital (Research & Referral), New Delhi. Over a career spanning three decades, he has performed more than 17,000 IVF cycles while maintaining a clinical pregnancy rate above 60%.
He is credited with conducting India’s first live hands-on workshops in sperm function testing, time-lapse imaging and ovarian cortex vitrification, and has led the establishment of 32 ART centres across India and abroad — including at Army Hospital (R&R) New Delhi, INHS Asvini Mumbai, CMH Dhaka in Bangladesh, and 18 units of Birla Fertility & IVF. He currently serves as an external expert for ART committees at AIIMS Nagpur, Deoghar, Guwahati, Patna, Bhopal and Gorakhpur.
His special interests include recurrent IVF and implantation failure, male-factor infertility, sperm function testing, ovarian tissue cryopreservation, and fertility preservation protocols for cancer patients developed alongside oncology teams. He is Editor-in-Chief of the first video atlas of ART, and his book Frozen Life was among the first in the world dedicated to human cryobiology. He served as President of the Indian Fertility Society (2024–2026) and is Founder Secretary General of the Fertility Preservation Society of India.

Dr. Prof. (Col) Pankaj Talwar, VSM, MD, PhD is a fertility and andrology specialist and Director of Talwar Fertility & Men’s Clinic in Gurugram. He has performed over 17,000 IVF cycles with a sustained clinical pregnancy rate above 60%, has established 32 ART centres in India and abroad, and served as President of the Indian Fertility Society from 2024 to 2026.
He completed his MBBS (1985–1989) and MD in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (1995–1999) at the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, and earned a PhD in Clinical Embryology and Reproductive Medicine from Shridhar University, Rajasthan, in 2023. He has also trained internationally in Copenhagen, Vizag, Haifa, Paris, Melbourne, Heidelberg and Barcelona.
He was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India in 2012 for his contribution to Assisted Reproductive Technology, and holds Life Time Achievement Awards from TAPCON 2023, the Indian Fertility Society, and ISSRF 2024. He was named ET Health Icon of North India in 2022 and 2023.
He specialises in IVF, male infertility and andrology, sperm function testing, ovarian tissue cryopreservation, fertility preservation for cancer patients, clinical embryology and oncofertility, and is known for managing complex recurrent IVF and implantation failure cases.
